We are now looking for the Group Data Governance Manager who will hold responsibility for leading, directing, and coordinating all data governance activities across the organization, ensuring visibility and alignment with business objectives.
The primary objective is to align governance practices with overall business strategy, enabling trusted and high-quality data utilization to drive value. This includes fostering a data-driven culture, improving data literacy, and embedding governance standards throughout the enterprise. The role ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations across regions and countries.
Beyond traditional governance, this position will champion Master Data Governance, oversee the Common Information Model (CIM), and lead Metadata Governance and Management initiatives. These responsibilities are critical to achieving a unified, consistent view of enterprise data and supporting interoperability across systems. The role requires a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, adaptability to evolving technologies, and continuous monitoring and evaluation to optimize governance initiatives.
Responsibilities
1. Corporate Data Governance Framework
Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy, framework, and roadmap aligned with the organization’s overall Data & Data Governance strategy.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including division and country data leaders, and leverage existing cooperation forums such as the Data Leadership Framework.
Collaborate regularly with project stakeholders to identify business needs and ensure Data Governance activities are planned and executed accordingly.
Work with business stakeholders, data owners, and data stewards to establish governance roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities.
Prepare consistent presentations and communication materials following brand guidelines.
2. Corporate Data Governance Adoption
Maintain an up-to-date view of Data Governance activities, tracking adherence to policies, compliance, and overall data quality.
Ensure KPIs are aligned with business objectives and provide regular updates, address issues with stakeholders.
Coordinate and plan pilot and full implementation of new functionalities, including roadmap and strategy execution.
Incorporate Business Glossary and recognized data value into governance adoption processes.
Share best practices across divisions and countries to ensure standardized frameworks and processes.
Evaluate and implement suitable governance tools; analyze usage and recommend enhancements or decommissioning.
Ensure clear, transparent, and inspiring communication related to governance activities across business streams and projects.
3. Training and Data Literacy
Develop, design and deliver in collaboration with key stakeholders tailored training programs that promote understanding and adoption of governance principles.
Promote reusability of governance plans and activities across projects and geographies for efficiency and consistency.
Requirements
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
The Data Governance Manager is an experienced Data Governance professional with a relevant degree and preferably certifications and successful hands-on experience from setting up, implementing, driving, and following through on Data Governance initiatives.
Around 8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Master Data Management, or Metadata Management roles.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field.
Experience implementing enterprise-wide governance programs in multinational environments.
Advanced knowledge/proficiency in Data Governance and associated framework, methodologies, techniques, processes, and approaches.
Experience working in a highly complex environment with senior stakeholders with challenging deadlines and deliverables.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance (GDPR, ISO standards).
Experience with Common Information Model (CIM) design and implementation.
Credibility as a Project Leader.
Fluency in English.
Certifications such as CDMP, DCAM, or equivalent is highly desirable.

Other qualities
The Data Governance Manager is leading the organization’s Data Governance efforts – both in projects and steady-state activities – for which the following skills and competencies are expected.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities across business and technical teams.
Deep understanding of Data Governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) and best practices.
Expertise in Master Data Management, Metadata Management, and Data Quality principles.
Familiarity with ontologies, taxonomies, and semantic data modeling.
Proficiency with governance tools (Collibra, Informatica, or similar).
Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
Ability to drive cultural change toward a data-driven organization.
Working conditions
The role is open for candidates based in Europe. Depending on the country and its office regulations, more regular presence in the office and hybrid working model might be applicable.
The role involves travelling and adjusting to different time zones when needed.
